Rhythm Rest Handpan Grips
The first, and only, non-slip grips that attach directly to your handpan, preventing your handpan from slipping while playing.
The best creative expression happens when you’re flowing. When you’re completely focused and immersed on what you’re creating. But sitting comfortably without your handpan sliding off your lap can be challenging. We created Rhythm Rest to allow you to focus on playing without discomfort or distraction.
Our Patent Pending Rhythm Rest Grips are dual sided -- the outside consisting of a dense (yet cushy) neoprene/rubber hybrid material, and the underside of high strength, flexible sheet magnets.
Attaching our grips with the use of magnets makes them quick and easy to apply, remove, or swap to another handpan -- all without leaving behind sticky residue, and without scratching or damaging your instrument.
In addition to providing superior stability, the cushioned outside material adds an additional layer of comfort between the handpan and your lap. And since the grips are attached directly to the handpan, they can be used with any outfit choice, and are even wonderfully harmonious with bare skin contact.
When assembled as a full circle, our grips measure 8" in diameter, with a 5" diameter opening in the middle.
Every order includes one set (2 pieces).
Real musicians, real reviews
"I love how well made they are, feel and look really good in quality, easy to apply and gives the pan such a nice grip!!"
— Julia Baier (@changeofcolours)
"They work perfectly. I have never heard my A2 Mystic AsaChan sound so pure as when I have your magnet cut outs around the gu! The pan sounds flawless now! The magnets basically fixed everything I hated about my A2 Mystic!"
— Jacob Cole (@jacobcolepercussion)
The magnet grippers are an innovative solution to the handpan sliding in your lap, and the way they circle around the port means there's no interference with bottom notes. They're almost identical in function to the ones that strap to your legs, but I find the magnets simpler since they're attached directly to the pan.
— Mark Roes (@think.bemindful)
The Rhythm Rest grips were the perfect solution to play long hours and live concerts with more comfort and security! I tested it several times during my rehearsals and especially in the last Handpan Festival I had the opportunity to join. It made a whole lot of difference! It’s practical, easy to carry and place, and its aesthetics fits perfectly with the Handpan. Definitely going to use these as my main accessory for my Handpan set!

Will Rhythm Rest fit my handpan?
expand_more
Our grips are designed as a universal fit to most handpans on the market today, even those with large bottom notes.
When assembled as a full circle, the grips measure with an outside diameter of 8 inches, and an inside opening diameter of 5 inches.
The width of each grip individually is approximately 1.5 inches, with a thickness of 8mm.
How does it stick on?
expand_more
Rhythm Rest grips attach using magnets, so they don't require any adhesive and can be easily removed without causing damage or leaving any residue behind.
Curious if they'll work with your instrument? Try connecting a magnet to your instrument. If it sticks, then Rhythm Rest will, too!
Will it damage my handpan?
expand_more
Not at all! Our soft-bodied magnets won't scratch the surface of your instrument, and the padded exterior can actually help protect your handpan from damage when placing it down on a rough surface such as gravel, concrete, etc.
Will it change the way my handpan sounds?
expand_more
As long as your Rhythm Rest grips are not attached over a tone field, they will not impact the sound of your instrument.
In fact, we've even found that adding our Rhythm Rest grips to the bottom of your instrument can in some cases help to reduce crosstalk and unwanted frequencies. This is not a guaranteed benefit of using our grips, but has been observed in some scenarios!
Will they fit with a gu plug in place?
expand_more
Our grips have been designed to accommodate for many of the gu plugs we've seen during testing, but not all plugs are created equally -- some being wider than others.
If your gu plug is wider than 4.5 inches, your grips may need to be spread apart slightly to accommodate. This will not affect performance of the grips, but placement needs to be considered to make sure the magnets are not overlapping any tone fields.
